Dutch Oven Blackberry Cobbler

There’s something so comforting about a warm, bubbling cobbler straight from the oven. Whether it's been a long homeschool day, I’ve been deep in a sourdough baking session, or we just need something sweet after dinner, this Dutch Oven Blackberry Cobbler is one of my go-to dessert recipes

Ingredients

Blackberry Filling

  • 6 heaping cups berries
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup raw sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

Cobbler Topping

  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ¼ cup cream

Instructions

  • Prepare your berry filling by placing berries, both sugars, lemon juice, and flour into a large bowl and stirring together gently. 
  • Pour the berry mixture into a shallow Dutch oven
  • For the topping in a separate bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, and ¼ cup cream.
  •  Pour wet ingredients into dry and combine.
  • Pour topping over the berry mixture and bake with the lid off at 350°F for about 25 minutes until the berries are bubbling and the topping is golden brown. Let stand for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Notes

You may need additional baking time if you’re using frozen berries.
