Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of day old bread
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Cut or tear the bread into 1-inch cubes. It doesn’t have to be perfect — rustic pieces are totally fine. Day-old or slightly stale bread actually works best.
  • Add to a bowl and drizzle with 2–3 tablespoons of olive oil (or melted butter for a richer flavor). Toss until every piece is lightly coated — not greasy, just glossy.
  • Season well. Sprinkle with mixture of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried herbs like parsley or Italian seasoning. You can adjust the flavors based on the salad or soup you’re serving.
  • Spread onto a baking sheet in a single layer — giving them space helps them crisp instead of steam.
  • Bake at 375°F for 10–15 minutes, stirring halfway through. Watch closely toward the end — they should be golden and crisp on the outside but not rock-hard in the center.
  • Let cool completely before storing or serving. They’ll crisp up even more as they cool!
