Ingredients

  • 1 cup soft white (about 3/4 cup of soft white wheat berries)
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Butter Topping

  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp parsley

Note: If you find that your dough isn't coming together you can add a splash of milk. 

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 
  • Mill fresh flour and place it in a large bowl. Add baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and sugar. Combine. 
  • Add discard, melted butter, and shredded cheese to the dry ingredients and combine using your hands until a sticky dough forms. 
  • Divide the dough into 8-10 biscuits and drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. 
  • Bake for 9-10 minutes until they are golden on top. 

For Butter Topping

  • Mix melted butter with spices and brush on biscuits as soon as they come out of the oven.
